Vyommitra Humanoid Nears Completion for Gaganyaan Mission
ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan has announced that Vyommitra, the humanoid astronaut for India’s unmanned Gaganyaan mission, has entered its final testing phase. With 90% of the mission work completed, ISRO targets accomplishing Gaganyaan by 2027.

Major Space Achievements
During the ESTIC-2025 preview in New Delhi, Narayanan highlighted significant milestones including the successful static test of Skyroot’s Kalam 1200 solid motor for the Vikram-1 launch vehicle. ISRO also transferred SSL small satellite launch vehicle technology to HAL this year.
Future Lunar Missions
“The Chandrayaan 4 and 5 programs have been approved. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently announced Chandrayaan 5, which is a joint project with Japan. We are working on that now,” said Narayanan.
NISAR Satellite Operations
The NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) satellite, launched in July 2025, will become fully operational within the next 10-15 days, marking another milestone in international space collaboration.
Private Sector Growth
Narayanan expressed strong support for space startups, stating: “We are extremely happy when the private sector does well in the country. When the space startup ecosystem grows, we are sure the space ecosystem in the country is growing and the common man of country is benefiting.”
ESTIC-2025 Conference
The Emerging Science, Technology and Innovation Conclave (ESTIC 2025) will be held from November 3-5 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. The event aims to accelerate scientific breakthroughs and foster cross-sector collaborations.
