‘Go back to your senses’: UAE tells Iran after attacks on Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha and Kuwait

The UAE on Sunday urged the grief-stricken Tehran leadership to “go back to your senses” as Iran, in a wave of military retaliation, launched strikes across the Middle East, including attacks on Dubai, its international airports, and other key locations, following the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a massive US-Israel military operations.

The UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, through his envoy, addressed the Khamenei-less Iranian regime, warning, “Go back to your senses, your war is not with your neighbours.”

Dubai experienced one of its most severe days in decades as it became caught in the crossfire between Iran and joint US-Israel forces following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Iran also struck US military bases in Kuwait, according to the IRGC.

“The American naval base in the Abdullah Mubarak area of Kuwait was hit by four ballistic missiles and 12 drones. All infrastructure was destroyed, and a large number of American personnel were killed or injured. Additionally, the MST-class combat support ship, carrying fuel for American vessels in the Indian Ocean, was hit by Iranian Qadr 380 missiles,” the report said.

Blasts were reported in Dubai, Doha, and Manama as Iran carried out retaliatory strikes across multiple locations.

Iran’s military reportedly targeted Dubai International Airport, the Burj Al Arab, and other prominent sites. Four people were injured in the airport attack, which caused damage inside a passenger terminal.

In Iraq, a US base in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region, was hit by Iranian strikes. Bahrain’s interior ministry reported that a drone strike struck Bahrain International Airport, causing material damage but no casualties.

AFP reporters also heard explosions across Dubai, Doha, and Manama, with thick black smoke rising over Doha following several loud blasts.

Local authorities said four people were injured in a fire on Palm Jumeirah, the man-made island famed for its luxury hotels and resorts. Parts of a missile, either intercepted or knocked off course, struck a high-end hotel on the island.

Dubai’s main airport, one of the world’s busiest aviation hubs, suffered partial damage from a suspected aerial strike on a terminal building. Airport officials said the damage was minor and was quickly contained.

Operation Epic Fury, a major US military campaign under President Donald Trump, has achieved its most significant objective: the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in strikes carried out early Sunday in the heart of Tehran.

Initial reports indicated that the operation targeted more than just the Supreme Leader, with Khamenei’s daughter and grandchild also reportedly among those killed in the attacks on key locations across the capital.

However, it was not just US, but Benjamin Netanyahu-led Israel also partnered American strikes with his military muscle showcasing under the name – Operation Lion’s Roar.
