CBSE postpones March 2 board exams in Middle East amid Iran-US-Israel conflict

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially postponed Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations scheduled for Monday, March 2, 2026, in select Middle East countries.

In a notification issued by Controller of Examinations Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, the Board informed schools that the decision has been taken due to the current situation in parts of the Middle East.

The postponement applies to CBSE-affiliated schools in:

  • Bahrain
  • Iran
  • Kuwait
  • Oman
  • Qatar
  • Saudi Arabia
  • United Arab Emirates

EXAMS ON MARCH 2 POSTPONED

According to the official notice, all Class 10 and 12 board exams scheduled for March 2, 2026, in these countries have been postponed. The revised dates will be announced later.

Students have been advised to remain in touch with their respective schools and closely follow official updates issued by CBSE.

REVIEW ON MARCH 3 FOR FURTHER EXAMS

CBSE has also stated that it will review the situation on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. A decision regarding examinations scheduled from March 5 onwards will be taken after assessing ground conditions.

This means further changes to the exam schedule cannot be ruled out, depending on developments in the region.

DIPLOMATIC MISSIONS INFORMED

The notification has also been shared with Indian diplomatic missions in the affected countries. Copies have been marked to the Ambassadors of India in the UAE (Abu Dhabi), Saudi Arabia (Riyadh), Oman (Muscat), Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait and Iran (Tehran), as well as the Consul General of India in Dubai and CBSE’s Regional Office in Dubai.

WHAT STUDENTS SHOULD DO NOW

Students appearing for CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams in the Middle East region are advised to:

  • Stay in regular contact with their schools
  • Avoid relying on unofficial social media circulars
  • Wait for fresh dates to be announced by CBSE

Further updates are expected after the Board’s review on March 3.
