The trailer for DC Studios’ highly anticipated film, Clayface, has been released. The movie follows an aspiring actor, portrayed by Tom Rhys Harries, whose face becomes disfigured due to an encounter with a gangster.
In a desperate attempt to regain his life, he turns to a scientist, played by Naomi Ackie, who transforms him into a clay-like being. This body horror film, directed by James Watkins, is penned by Mike Flanagan and Hossein Amini.
DC Studios co-chief James Gunn had initially stated that there were no plans for a Clayface movie, but the script by Flanagan changed those plans, being one of the best they had read. The film serves as an origin story for the Batman villain, similar to Todd Phillips’ Joker, but will be part of the DC Universe.
Peter Safran, co-chief of DC Studios, commented that while Clayface might not be as well-known as other villains like The Penguin or The Joker, his story is equally compelling and terrifying. Gunn added that the film will be a true psychological body horror.
