PM Modi Gave Forces Free Hand in Operation Sindoor: Army Chief

Key Takeaways

  • Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi reveals PM Modi gave armed forces unprecedented operational freedom during Operation Sindoor
  • Operation Sindoor successfully re-established India’s sovereignty and peace through military precision
  • Indian forces advanced 100 km beyond borders to neutralize threats with minimal risk
  • Three key principles guided the operation: courage, confidence, and calmness

In a historic revelation, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi granted the armed forces complete operational freedom during critical national security operations – something never before seen in India’s history. Speaking at TRS College in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, General Dwivedi emphasized that this political clarity enabled a decisive victory in Operation Sindoor.

“The third ‘C’ is clarity. The thinking of our political leadership was clear. They gave us a free hand. It has never happened in history before that the Prime Minister gave such freedom to the forces,” he said.

Operation Sindoor: More Than Military Victory

General Dwivedi described Operation Sindoor as both a military success and a mission to restore India’s sovereignty and peace. Notably, PM Modi himself named the operation, choosing ‘Sindoor’ for its deep cultural significance representing prayers for soldiers at the borders.

The Three Pillars of Success

The Army Chief highlighted courage, confidence, and calmness as the guiding principles throughout the operation. He praised the composed coordination between Army, Navy, and Air Force leadership during intense combat.

In a significant tactical achievement, Indian forces advanced 100 kilometers beyond the border to neutralize threats while maintaining strategic precision to minimize risks.

Evolving Security Challenges

General Dwivedi addressed the rapidly changing nature of modern warfare, noting that cyber, space, and information warfare now complement traditional threats like terrorism and border conflicts. He emphasized the need for technological agility in this fast-evolving security landscape.

Generation Z: India’s Future Force

Addressing students, the Army Chief described Generation Z as India’s greatest asset – digitally fluent, socially aware, and globally connected. With the world’s largest Gen Z population, he believes disciplined youth can accelerate India’s progress by generations.

The Army Chief’s remarks underscore how political clarity, operational freedom, and military synergy under PM Modi’s leadership made Operation Sindoor a defining moment in India’s defense history.
