Rare Interstellar Comet Captured Whizzing Past Mars
A rare interstellar comet, only the third ever confirmed from outside our solar system, made a close pass by Mars last week, offering a spectacular celestial show.
The European Space Agency’s spacecraft orbiting Mars captured unprecedented images of the comet, named 3I/ATLAS, during its Friday flyby. These remarkable photos, released to the public on Tuesday, reveal the comet as a distinct fuzzy white dot traversing the cosmic backdrop.
The event marks a significant astronomical opportunity, providing scientists with valuable data about objects originating beyond our solar system.
