UP Board Class 10, 12 exams 2026 to begin Feb 18, over 52 lakh registered

More than 52 lakh students are set to appear for the Uttar Pradesh Board Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2026. The exams, conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad, will begin on Wednesday, February 18, and continue till March 12, 2026.

The board examinations will be held in pen-and-paper mode across thousands of centres in the state, with both High School and Intermediate exams conducted simultaneously.

UP BOARD EXAMS 2026: REGISTRATION NUMBERS AT A GLANCE

According to official data, a total of 27,50,843 students have registered for the Class 10 (High School) examination, while 24,79,341 candidates have enrolled for the Class 12 (Intermediate) exams.

In all, over 52.3 lakh students will be appearing for the UP Board exams this year, making it one of the largest school-level examinations in the country.

EXAM SCHEDULE AND TIMINGS

The UP Board Class 10 and 12 exams 2026 will be conducted in two shifts each day:

  • Morning shift: 8:30 am to 11:45 am
  • Afternoon shift: 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm

The first paper for both Class 10 and Class 12 candidates will be Hindi.

MINIMUM PASSING MARKS FOR UP BOARD EXAMS 2026

To clear the UP Board examinations, students must score at least 33 per cent marks in each subject as well as in aggregate.

Candidates failing to meet the minimum criteria will be required to appear for compartment or improvement exams as per board rules.

UP BOARD EXAM DAY GUIDELINES: WHAT STUDENTS MUST FOLLOW

The board has issued strict instructions for candidates appearing in the examinations:

Students will be allowed entry into the exam centre one hour before the exam begins.

The main gate will close 30 minutes prior to the start of the examination.

Candidates must carry only authorised items, including their hard copy admit card, pens, pencils and basic stationery.

Electronic devices, notes, books or unauthorised materials are strictly prohibited inside the exam hall.

Entry will be denied to students who fail to produce their UP Board admit card.

Answers must be written only in blue or black ink on the answer sheet.

UP BOARD EXAMS 2025: LAST YEAR’S NUMBERS

In comparison, more than 54.37 lakh students appeared for the UP Board Class 10 and 12 examinations in 2025. The exams were held between February 24 and March 12 across 8,140 examination centres in Uttar Pradesh.

Of these, around 27.32 lakh students took the Class 10 exams, while over 27.05 lakh candidates appeared for the Class 12 board examinations.

Students are advised to regularly check official notices and reach their exam centres well in advance to avoid last-minute issues.
