Mostly focussed on offering speed to consumers who demand it, of late iQOO is beginning to turn its phones into more rounded devices. Increasingly they are all-in-one phones, offering consumers a mix of top hardware, some nifty features, and a slick enough design at a price point that is relatively lower than that of the competitors. The iQOO15R, which is now available in India, keeps true to this spirit.
The iQOO 15R has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 44,999. This is for the variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. The variant with 12GB RAM costs Rs 47,999 and the top variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage costs Rs 52,999. As part of the launch offer, there are some discounts available from certain banks. The effective discount, if you are an HDFC card holder, is Rs 4000, bringing the starting price of the phone to Rs 41,999 if you choose to exercise that option.
At a time when we are seeing a sharp increase in phone prices — blame it on RAM shortage and component prices — the iQOO 15R sports an extremely reasonable price tag. That is because once you look at its specs, it feels quite loaded.
The phone comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This is a top-tier processor. It also has a rather large 7600 mAh battery, with support for 100W fast charging. The compatible charger is bundled with the phone.
The iQOO 15R screen measures 6.6 inches diagonally. It uses an AMOLED panel, has a resolution of 2750 1260 pixels and uses a refresh rate of 144Hz. On the back, the phone has two cameras: a 50-megapixel main camera, powered by Sony LYT700V sensor, and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera. On the front it sports a 32-megapixel camera. The phone is available in two colours, Dark Knight (black) and Triumph Silver (a shade of light blue).
Despite its last battery and a large-ish screen, the iQOO 15R is a fairly petite phone with thickness of 7.9mm. It also weighs around 202 grams, which is on the lighter side for a phone with this big battery. The phone also supports IP68 and IP69 rating, which should keep it relatively safe from water and dust.
Beyond the core specs, the iQOO 15R sports almost all the bells and whistles that we expect from a Rs 50,000 phone. It uses UFS 4.1 for its storage connectivity, something that should help the phone perform fast and quick in use. It also has a cryogenic cooling engine, which is expected to keep the device running cool during gaming. In the coming days we will be taking a closer look at the phone. Stay tuned.
