UP Board UPMSP Class 10 English paper analysis 2026: Direct textbook questions make exam easier

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad successfully conducted the UP Board Class 10 English examination on 23 February 2026 across the state in two shifts. Held under strict supervision and standard board guidelines, the paper marked an important milestone in the ongoing High School examinations, which began on 18 February and will continue until 12 March 2026.

The English exam was conducted in pen-and-paper mode for a duration of 3 hours and 15 minutes. The morning shift was held from 8:30 am to 11:45 am for Class 10 English, while the afternoon shift, from 2:00 pm to 5:15 pm, is currently underway for Class 12 Mathematics and Biology. Students were required to report well in advance, as entry was strictly time-bound.

According to subject teacher Rachna Sharma (TGT) of Ram Richhpal Inter College, Hapur, the overall level of the paper was student-friendly.

She said, “The paper was easy and well-balanced. Most questions were directly from the textbook, and students who studied regularly would not have faced any difficulty. ”

Initial student reactions also reflected a similar sentiment, with most describing the paper as easy to moderate and manageable within the given time.

Ayesha Khan, a student who appeared in the morning shift, shared, “The paper was quite easy. The comprehension passages and grammar questions were straightforward, and I finished the paper on time.”

Another student, Sana Parveen, echoed the same confidence. “Most of the questions came directly from the textbook. The writing section was simple, and overall the exam was easier than expected,” she said.

As per early analysis, the question paper closely followed the prescribed UPMSP syllabus and blueprint. Key highlights included:

• Around 20 multiple-choice questions

• Balanced coverage of prose, poetry, and grammar

• Strong emphasis on textbook-based questions

• Writing tasks focused on clarity, format, and basic expression

Majority of students expressed their opinion that the academic paper was logically organized and it was very much possible to complete it within the given time.

The Class 10 board examinations are going to be held as per the timetable, major next papers being Science on 25 February, Mathematics on 27 February, Sanskrit on 28 February, Commerce on 7 March, and Agriculture on 12 March.

Board has taken CCTV surveillance, flying squads, and district, level control rooms as its major weapon to fight unfair means and to maintain transparency of the examination process.
