Actor Divyenndu has confirmed that a sequel to Madgaon Express is officially in the works, with director Kunal Kemmu currently developing the script. The 2024 comedy, which stars Pratik Gandhi and Avinash Tiwary alongside Divyenndu, received a strong response from audiences, and the film’s writer-director Kemmu is now set to expand its story.
Divyenndu expressed his excitement while confirming that the much-awaited sequel is moving ahead.
“Yes, it’s on. It’s definitely on. Kunal [Kemmu] is working on the script. We are all very, very excited,” Divyenndu said, in an exclusive interaction with Variety India. He further spoke about how the love and reception of the audience played a major role in pushing the makers for a sequel.
“The kind of response we got for Madgaon (Express) was so… I mean, it’s got a cultish sort of a following. I’m not gonna use the word ‘cult’, because it’s too new. It still has to grow and age well. But yeah, people are really excited about that film,” he said.
About Madgaon Express
Backed by Excel Entertainment, the first film stood out for its quirky humour and chaotic narrative, quickly earning a fan following.
The ending of Madgaon Express had already hinted at a sequel. In the epilogue, Divyenndu’s character Dodo pitches a trip to Las Vegas to his friends, setting up a new adventure. With Dodo winning a lottery and Pinku (Pratik Gandhi) gearing up for his wedding, the sequel could take a bachelor party route, drawing comparisons to The Hangover.
Plot details, however, remain under wraps at the moment but the shift from Goa to Las Vegas promises a bigger, more chaotic entertainer.
