Vivo V70 series launched in India with ZEISS cameras, new Elite model

Vivo has debuted the V70 series in India. The company has launched two phones – the V70 and the V70 Elite. Both phones come with Zeiss-branded cameras and a premium design. The phones target the midrange segment, for users who want a good camera experience in a decent overall package.

The V70 series comes just a few months after the Vivo V60. The V60 was launched in August last year, with the V60e coming in October.

Let’s delve in to see what Vivo has in store with its latest V-series devices.

Vivo V70 series design

In terms of design, the V70 and the V70 Elite are identical. You get a new square-ish camera module on the back, instead of the vertical pill-shaped design we had on the V60. The camera module comes with a metallic-finish, and you get prominent Zeiss branding. The Aura Light is also placed here.

Though, the camera arrangement may remind you of certain other phones.

The V70 series gets a flat aerospace grade aluminium frame. The back is made of glass and comes with a matte finish. Both devices measure under 7.6mm in thickness.

The V70 and V70 Elite come with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance.

Vivo V70 series cameras and display

Both phones come with the same camera setup. You get a triple camera setup on the rear – a 50-megapixel main sensor, 50-megapixel Sony IMX882 telephoto with 3x telephoto zoom, and an 8-megapixel ultrawide. On the front, the Vivo V70 series packs a 50-megapixel main sensor. All cameras get Zeiss branding.

According to Vivo, you can take videos up to 4K at 60fps with the V70 series. You also get AI filters for images directly in the camera app.

The Vivo V70 and V70 Elite come with a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The resolution of the panel is 1.5K. Vivo claims that both devices get the slimmest bezels in their segments, at 0.125cm.

Both devices have a peak brightness of 5,000nits. There is also an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.

Vivo V70 series performance and battery

Performance is where both phones differ. The Vivo V70 Elite uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC, while the vanilla V70 uses the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Both devices get LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.

The V70 Elite also gets an X-axis linear motor for better haptics and feedback during gaming.

Both phones get a 6,500mAh battery with support for 90W fast charging. The charger is available in the box.

The V70 series run on Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box. Both phones will get 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.

Vivo V70 series launch and price in India

The Vivo V70 series goes on sale in India from February 26. The V70 starts at Rs 45,999 for the base 8GB/256GB variant. The 12GB/256GB model will cost Rs 49,999.

The Vivo V70 Elite starts at Rs 51,999 for the 8GB/256GB model. Prices for the 12GB/256GB and 12GB/512GB variants are Rs 56,999 and Rs 61,999 respectively. You can also cashback offers or up to 10 per cent instant discount.
