Emirates Rolls Out Free Starlink Wi-Fi Across Entire Fleet

Emirates, recently crowned the World’s Best International Airline, is revolutionizing inflight connectivity by rolling out free ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi across its entire fleet. Starting November 23, passengers can enjoy seamless streaming, video calls, gaming, and social media browsing at 40,000 feet without any charges or membership requirements.

Fleet-Wide Connectivity Plan

The first Starlink-equipped Boeing 777 enters service this month, with installations progressing at 14 aircraft monthly. Emirates will become the world’s first airline to deploy Starlink on an A380 in early 2026. By mid-2027, all 232 Boeing 777 and Airbus A380 aircraft will feature the service.

The carrier is implementing two antennae on each 777 and an industry-leading three antennae on every A380, ensuring superior connectivity across all cabins. Live TV will debut on personal devices this month, with seatback screen integration following in December 2025.

Leadership Perspective

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airline, stated: ‘We’re introducing the world’s fastest Wi-Fi, elevating what passengers can expect from inflight connectivity, like seamless productivity, real-time communication with loved ones, and uninterrupted connection to their digital lives.’

He emphasized this forms part of broader fleet transformation, adding: ‘The most advanced connectivity, exceptional cabins, extensive entertainment, and world-class service from our talented Cabin Crew – all of these elements reflect our substantial investment and commitment to raising the bar on what air travel should be.’

Chad Gibbs, VP of Starlink Business Operations at SpaceX, confirmed: ‘With Starlink onboard your Emirates flight, you’ll be able to stream, game, and have seamless video calls, just as you can do on the ground. We’re excited to transform Emirates’ travel experience.’

Competitive Landscape

While Qatar Airways launched the first Starlink-equipped 777 commercial flight in October 2024, Emirates’ deployment represents the largest expansion on an international wide-body fleet. The first equipped aircraft (A6-EPF Boeing 777-300ER) is currently displayed at the Dubai Airshow.

British Airways Entertainment Trial

Separately, British Airways begins testing a ‘Bring Your Own Device’ system this month, allowing passengers to stream inflight entertainment to personal devices on selected A380, 787-9, and 777-200 aircraft from London Heathrow.
