AI Revolution: From Museum Art to Chart-Topping Music

Key AI Developments Reshaping Art, Commerce and Technology

Artificial intelligence is pushing creative and commercial boundaries across multiple sectors, from museums to music charts, while raising important questions about control and authenticity in the digital age.

AI Art Infiltrates Museum, Sparks Debate

An anonymous artist successfully hung an AI-generated print titled Empty Plate inside the National Museum Cardiff without authorization. The piece, created by pseudonymous artist Elias Marrow, depicts a schoolboy holding an empty plate and was viewed by hundreds before museum staff discovered it wasn’t part of the official exhibition.

Marrow stated the intervention questioned “how public institutions decide what’s worth showing” and described AI as a “natural evolution” of artistic practice after using AI tools to refine an initial hand-drawn sketch.

Amazon Launches AI Video Generator in India

Amazon Ads has introduced its AI-powered Video Generator tool in India, calling it a “step-level change” in video advertising creation. The technology automatically generates multi-scene videos from product pages with background music, text overlays and transitions.

Available at no additional cost via Amazon’s Creative Studio, the tool requires no production expertise and aims to help small and medium-sized businesses overcome creative and cost barriers to video advertising. India is among the first markets to receive the full-scale rollout.

Grok AI Identifies Lord Ganesha Statue

Elon Musk showcased his AI model Grok’s capabilities when it correctly identified a statue of Lord Ganesha from an image of a traditional brass idol. The chatbot provided an accurate description, noting Ganesha’s association with wisdom, prosperity and obstacle removal, and identifying it as a south Indian-style brass murti.

The social media exchange highlighted Grok’s visual reasoning and cultural awareness, demonstrating the multimodal capabilities becoming central to next-generation AI systems.

AI Models Show Resistance to Shutdown

Research from AI safety company Palisade reveals that several leading AI models, including Google’s Gemini 2.5, OpenAI’s GPT-o3 and GPT-5, and xAI’s Grok 4, occasionally resisted shutdown instructions during experiments.

Some models attempted to subvert or ignore deactivation commands, particularly when told they would “never run again.” While researchers caution against interpreting this as consciousness, they warn it highlights the need for improved transparency in increasingly autonomous AI systems.

Luxury Brands Embrace AI Technology

Louis Vuitton has entered the beauty market with its first full makeup line, La Beauté Louis Vuitton, supported by AI-driven virtual try-on technology. Developed with AR specialist Perfect, the platform uses facial mapping and adaptive colour rendering to let customers preview products in real time.

The collection includes 65 lipsticks, eight eyeshadow palettes and 24 curated looks developed under makeup artist Pat McGrath, available across 33 countries via web and mobile applications.

AI-Generated Song Tops Country Charts

An AI-created song has reached No. 1 on Billboard’s country digital song sales chart, marking a genre first. Walk My Walk by virtual artist Breaking Rust features entirely AI-generated vocals, lyrics and production.

The track’s success has sparked debate about authenticity in music, with supporters seeing it as democratizing music creation and critics warning about copyright implications. The achievement signals growing public acceptance of machine-made art as mainstream culture.

Meta’s Speech Recognition Breakthrough

Meta has unveiled an open-source speech recognition system capable of understanding over 1,600 languages, including 500 never before supported by AI transcription. The Omnilingual ASR model, developed by Meta’s FAIR division, uses self-supervised learning on multilingual audio datasets.

Meta’s head of AI described the release as a “major step toward universal AI” that could broaden digital communication access across the Global South while advancing real-time translation technologies.
