About Vande Mataram
Vande Mataram originated as a Sanskrit poem written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee in 1876. The composition was later included in his 1882 novel Anandamath.
During India’s freedom struggle, the song became a powerful symbol of nationalism and resistance against British rule. It personifies India as a mother goddess and translates to “Hail to the Motherland”.
Environmental Initiative
Earlier, Minister Margherita participated in the ‘Ek Ped Maa ke Naam’ campaign by planting a tree at Mallasa Park in La Paz.
The initiative, inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, encourages people to plant trees in honor of their mothers while promoting environmental sustainability.
According to the Indian government, the program serves dual purposes: honoring mothers’ nurturing role and contributing to planetary health through afforestation.
