Meta has announced the wider online availability of its Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 smart glasses in India starting November 21. The smart eyewear, developed in partnership with EssilorLuxottica, will be available through major e-commerce platforms including Amazon, Flipkart, and Reliance Digital.

Starting today, November 6, interested buyers can register for ‘Notify Me’ alerts on these platforms to get early access when sales begin. This expansion represents Meta’s largest retail rollout for its wearable devices in the Indian market.

Pricing and Availability

The Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 smart glasses start at Rs 29,900 in India, with final pricing depending on the chosen frame style and lens type. The product was initially launched in May 2025 and was previously available only through Ray-Ban’s official website and select optical stores.

Design and Core Features

The smart glasses maintain Ray-Ban’s iconic designs including the popular Wayfarer and Headliner frames while integrating Meta’s advanced AI capabilities. Users can activate hands-free functionality using the voice command ‘Hey Meta’ to access information, control features, or capture photos and videos without touching their smartphones.

The collection offers multiple lens options including prescription, sun, polarised, and Transitions lenses, accompanied by a compact charging case. A visible LED indicator lights up when the built-in camera is active, ensuring transparency and privacy during use.

India-Specific AI Features

Meta has introduced several tailored experiences for Indian users:

  • Hindi Language Support: Users can now interact with Meta AI in Hindi for basic commands and queries
  • Celebrity AI Voice: Features the voice of Deepika Padukone for a more familiar and engaging experience
  • Restyle Feature: Timed for the festive season, this allows users to transform photos with decorative lights and celebratory themes by saying ‘Hey Meta, restyle this’
  • UPI Lite Payments (Upcoming): Meta plans to test UPI Lite integration for transactions under Rs 1,000, enabling users to complete payments hands-free by looking at QR codes and saying ‘Hey Meta, scan and pay’

“We are on a mission to bring personal superintelligence to everyone, through devices that blend effortlessly into everyday life,” said Sandhya Devanathan, Vice President, India and Southeast Asia, Meta. “These glasses deliver powerful AI tools designed to help you stay present, communicate better, and amplify your senses.”

With these India-focused enhancements including Hindi voice support and upcoming UPI Lite payment capabilities, Meta is positioning the Ray-Ban Meta Gen 1 as more than just a lifestyle accessory but as a practical AI-powered wearable for Indian consumers.
