ISRO 2025 Mission Schedule: 3 Major Launches Including PSLV Return

ISRO is gearing up for three crucial space missions in the final months of 2025, including the launch of India’s heaviest communications satellite and the return to flight of the PSLV rocket after a previous failure.

Mission Schedule: Three Launches Before Year-End

The Indian space agency has confirmed the following launch timeline:

  • LVM3-M5: November 2, 2025
  • LVM3-M6: First week of December 2025
  • PSLV-C62: Mid/late December 2025

ISRO Spaceflight in a post on X stated, “𝗣𝗦𝗟𝗩 𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗳𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿!! ISRO is planning to launch the PSLV-C62 mission in mid/late December, which will be the return to flight for PSLV following a failure in its previous mission.”

LVM3-M5: Naval Communications Satellite

The LVM3-M5 mission will launch the CMS-03 multi-band communication satellite on November 2. Weighing 4,400 kg, it becomes ISRO’s heaviest communications satellite to date.

Describing its upcoming spaceflight mission, ISRO in a statement said, “India’s LVM3 launch vehicle is scheduled to launch the CMS-03 communication satellite in its 5th operational flight (LVM3-M5) on November 02, 2025. CMS-03 is a multi-band communication satellite that will provide services over a wide oceanic region, including the Indian landmass.”

Designed primarily for the Indian Navy, CMS-03 will replace the aging GSAT-7 satellite launched in 2013. The launch is scheduled for 5:26 PM from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.

LVM3-M6: December Mission with Tested Engine

The sixth operational LVM3 mission is scheduled for early December, featuring the CE20 cryogenic engine that successfully completed flight acceptance testing in March 2025.

“On March 14, 2025, ISRO successfully conducted the flight acceptance hot testing of the cryogenic engine identified for the sixth operational mission of LVM3 launch vehicle (LVM-M6) at ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri. Cryogenic engines for every mission undergo hot testing as part of its acceptance for the flight,” ISRO said.

PSLV-C62: Return to Flight Mission

PSLV-C62 represents a critical comeback for the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle following the PSLV-C61 failure in May 2025. Originally planned for September-October, the mission is now scheduled for mid-to-late December.

The previous PSLV-C61 mission on May 18, 2025, carried ISRO’s seventh RISAT series satellite and was the 63rd flight of PSLV. The mission was intended to enhance India’s space surveillance capabilities and improve disaster response systems.
