Google’s upcoming 1-GW hyperscale data centre in Visakhapatnam is projected to generate approximately ₹10,000 crore in revenue for Andhra Pradesh, according to Union Minister Pemmasani Chandrasekhar. The landmark project represents a major milestone in the state’s progress toward technological self-reliance.

Massive Investment and Job Creation

The $15 billion investment over five years (2026-2030) will create 5,000-6,000 direct jobs and 20,000-30,000 total employment opportunities in Andhra Pradesh. The project will bring essential infrastructure, power, and cooling facilities to Visakhapatnam, generating significant economic multiplier effects across the state.

Partnership with AdaniConneX

Adani Enterprises, through its joint venture AdaniConneX, has partnered with Google to develop India’s largest AI data centre campus and green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam. The announcement was made during the Bharat AI Shakti event in New Delhi, where Minister Chandrasekhar interacted with media.

Government Support and Vision

Dr Chandrasekhar acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s support and praised the efforts of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and IT Minister Nara Lokesh in bringing Google to Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized this project positions the state as a digital hub and accelerates across the country.

Technical Infrastructure

The Google AI hub will feature gigawatt-scale data centre operations supported by robust subsea cable networks and clean energy solutions to handle India’s most demanding AI workloads. Developed in collaboration with AdaniConneX and Airtel, the purpose-built infrastructure will significantly enhance India’s computational capabilities.

The event was attended by Electronics & IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Chief Minister Naidu, IT Minister Lokesh, and Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian.
