Uttar Pradesh universities to adopt AKTU model with online exams and CCTV

In a significant reform move, the Governor’s Secretariat has approved the implementation of the ‘AKTU model’ across all state universities in Uttar Pradesh, excluding agricultural and medical institutions.

The decision marks a major overhaul of the examination system, introducing a fully digitised and monitored framework.

The new system is expected to transform how exams are conducted, evaluated, and secured across the state’s higher education landscape.

FROM PAPER CHAOS TO DIGITAL CONTROL

Under the revamped structure, question papers will be transmitted online and printed directly at examination centres, reducing dependence on traditional transport and handling systems.

This step is expected to cut delays and lower logistical risks.

Evaluation of answer sheets will also move to a digital platform, allowing examiners to assess papers online from designated centres or colleges.

This shift aims to bring faster, more transparent, and standardised marking processes across institutions.

SECURITY BOOST WITH QR CODES AND CCTV

To strengthen examination integrity, answer sheets will now carry barcodes, QR codes, and dummy numbers. These identifiers will ensure that cases of substitution, loss, or tampering are effectively eliminated.

In addition, CCTV cameras will be installed at all examination centres, while biometric attendance will be made compulsory for both students and staff.

Authorities believe this multi-layered surveillance system will significantly reduce malpractice.

TEACHERS GET DIGITAL ACCESS

Examiners will be given secure online access to question papers, answer keys, and scanned answer sheets for evaluation.

This is expected to streamline the marking process and improve coordination between institutions.

Officials say the system will not only increase efficiency but also improve accountability in the examination process.

COST SAVINGS AND CLEANER EXAMS

The administration has highlighted that the new model will help save crores of rupees currently spent on printing question papers, transportation, and manual evaluation processes.

Beyond financial efficiency, the reform is also aimed at tackling long-standing issues such as cheating, paper leaks, and proxy candidates.

By reducing human interference in sensitive stages of the examination cycle, the system seeks to build greater trust in academic assessments.

A TECHNOLOGICAL TURNING POINT

Education experts view this initiative as one of the most significant technological transformations in Uttar Pradesh’s higher education system in recent years.

With digital tools, surveillance, and structured evaluation combined, the AKTU model is expected to set a new benchmark for university examinations in the state.
