Shah Rukh Khan eyes Jawan 2 after King: Sources

Shah Rukh Khan is lining up his next big franchise move. The actor, currently focussed on wrapping up King, is expected to return to one of his biggest blockbusters with early plans for a sequel now firmly in place.

Sources told India Today that Jawan 2 has moved beyond the ideation stage, with the script recently locked after months of development.

“A script and idea for Jawan 2 had been in the works for a while. A few weeks ago, the script was finalised. SRK will begin work on the film after completing King,” a source revealed.

Additionally, the makers are also exploring casting for a powerful antagonist. “The team is looking to lock an A-lister from the South as the villain,” the source added.

The sequel is likely to go on floors next year, marking another collaboration between Khan and filmmaker Atlee, whose first Hindi outing with Jawan turned into a record-breaking success across markets. The actor is said to be keen on expanding the film’s universe, which struck a chord with audiences for its scale and mass appeal.

An official confirmation on the same is awaited.

Released in 2023, Jawan emerged as a box office juggernaut, earning over Rs 1,100 crore worldwide and cementing its place among the highest-grossing Indian films. The action entertainer featured a star-studded cast including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone (in a special appearance), along with Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani and others.

Meanwhile, Atlee has been busy consolidating his position as a pan-India filmmaker. After the success of Jawan, he has been actively developing multiple projects under his banner, with a strong focus on large-scale entertainers. He is currently shooting for Raaka, starring Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone.
