NEET UG 2026 paper leak claims circulate online, NTA issues warning

Messages claiming a NEET UG paper leak circulating across Telegram channels and other social media platforms have raised concern among both students and the National Testing Agency. The growing circulation of such claims has prompted the agency to issue a fresh warning, urging candidates not to fall into traps set by fraudsters. The claims are coming when the NEET UG 2026 is scheduled to be conducted on May 3 raising the eyebrows of candidates as well as the authorities. The admit cards are yet to be released.

The NTA, in its advisory shared on X, stated that students should avoid engaging with such messages and report any suspicious activity. It also cautioned candidates against paying money or getting involved in any fraudulent practices linked to alleged paper leaks.

The agency emphasised that all official updates must be checked only through its website or verified social media handles, and not through unofficial sources circulating unverified claims.

BACKGROUND: 2024 CONTROVERSY ADDS TO CONCERNS

The current claims gain significance in the backdrop of the NEET UG 2024 controversy, where the examination came under scrutiny over alleged irregularities.

Following the issue, the Supreme Court of India had directed that candidates from certain centres retake the examination to ensure transparency in the evaluation process.

SOCIAL MEDIA CLAIMS AND NTA’S RESPONSE

In recent days, several Telegram channels have claimed access to the NEET UG question paper, offering it to students through various means.

These claims triggered widespread discussion online, with users questioning how such “confidential documents” were allegedly being circulated on messaging platforms.

One user, tagging the NTA, questioned, “How are your confidential documents getting leaked on Telegram and WhatsApp?”

Responding to the concerns, the NTA denied all such claims, stating that the materials being circulated are fake and part of ongoing scams targeting students. The agency added that it is taking necessary legal action and has initiated efforts to curb such activities.

Several users have also flagged Telegram groups allegedly offering NEET UG papers in exchange for money, with some claims suggesting amounts of around Rs 10,000.

These reports have further raised concerns about organised attempts to mislead candidates ahead of the examination.
