No LPG or LNG shortage, India expands talks with global energy suppliers

India currently remains in a comfortable position when it comes to energy security, according to government sources. Officials say the country has adequate stocks of crude oil and gas, and supplies are being replenished every day, reported ANI. The government is also actively speaking with several countries and global organisations to ensure energy supplies remain steady.

NO SHORTAGE OF OIL OR GAS

Government sources said there is no shortage of LPG (Liquified petroleum gas) or LNG (Liquified natural gas) in the country. They also stressed that crude oil is available in the global market. Officials added that India is in contact with multiple suppliers to ensure that energy imports continue smoothly.

India currently imports about 195 million metric standard cubic metres per day (MMSCMD) of natural gas. Out of this, around 60 MMSCMD comes from Qatar.

However, authorities said India is already exploring alternative markets to reduce dependence on any single supplier.

AUSTRALIA AND CANADA OFFER GAS SUPPLIES

Sources said Australia and Canada have offered to supply gas to India. The government is also examining other possible sources to strengthen its energy supply chain.

Recently, India also signed new energy contracts with the UAE and the United States, which will help diversify supplies.

TALKS WITH GLOBAL ENERGY BODIES

India is also holding discussions with major global energy organisations. Officials confirmed that the country is in talks with the International Energy Agency (IEA) and the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). These discussions are part of efforts to closely monitor the global energy situation.

Meanwhile, officials said India is reviewing the energy situation twice a day to stay prepared for any disruption.

The government is also in discussions with the US to arrange insurance for ships, which would help ensure smooth transportation of crude oil and LPG supplies.

Sources said the overall energy position remains stable for now, and authorities are continuing to keep a close watch on developments.
