Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro timings changed for Holi; here’s what travellers need to know

Commuters travelling on the Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro corridors will need to adjust their plans this Holi. Authorities have announced revised operational hours for Wednesday, March 4, in view of the festival celebrations. According to an official update from Namo Bharat Delhi Meerut @NamoBharatDelMT official post on X, train services on both networks will remain suspended during the morning and afternoon hours on Holi. Operations will commence at 5:00 PM and continue until 10:00 PM the same day.

The official post reads, “On the occasion of #Holi, 4 March 2026 (Wednesday), #NamoBharat and #MeerutMetro services will commence at 5 PM and operate till 10 PM. Please plan your journey accordingly.”

The temporary change has been introduced to allow both staff and passengers to celebrate the festival with their families without logistical pressure. Officials stated that once services resume at 5 PM, trains will run at regular intervals to manage expected evening demand and minimise waiting time.

Passengers have been advised to keep themselves aware of the revised time schedule before reaching the stations.

Authorities have stated that this will help passengers avoid any inconvenience during the festive day.

The Meerut Metro was inaugurated along with the Namo Bharat Metro in the latter half of February. This 23-kilometer Metro rail connects Meerut South to Modipuram with 13 stations in the city. This Metro rail is intended to facilitate high-speed transport in the city. The speed of this Metro rail reaches 120 kmph, making it one of the fastest Metro rails in India. Each Metro train comprises three coaches that facilitate 173 passengers to be seated and have a total capacity to transport 700 passengers.

The major feature of this Metro rail project is that passengers can utilize a single ticket to travel on the Meerut Metro rail and the Namo Bharat Metro rail. This feature makes Meerut one of the few cities in the world to have this facility. Both Metro rails utilize the same infrastructure in the city.

Daily operations extended to seven days a week

In another news, metro management declared an operational change that will positively impact regular metro users. The Namo Bharat and Meerut Metro services will operate seven days a week with uniform timings.

Earlier, the metro operated on Sundays with a different schedule compared to other days of the week. Now, with this new arrangement, metro trains will operate seven days a week between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM.

This operational change comes in response to rising metro users and aims to provide greater convenience to daily users of the metro, including office-goers, students, traders, and business professionals.

Metro users are requested to keep an eye on official updates and get information about other advisories regarding Holi operations.
