Missed CTET in Bihar? CBSE announces major update on re-exam date

In a significant update for teaching aspirants, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the re-examination date for candidates affected by the cancellation of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) February 2026 exam at two centres in Bihar.

The re-exam will now be conducted on March 1, 2026, offering relief to candidates who were unable to appear earlier due to unavoidable circumstances.

The decision applies specifically to candidates allotted centres in Vaishali (Hajipur), Bihar.

WHY WAS THE CTET EXAM CANCELLED AT THESE CENTRES?

The CTET examination scheduled for February 7–8, 2026, was cancelled at two centres in Vaishali (Hajipur) due to what officials described as “unavoidable circumstances.”

The affected centres are:

  • 125016 – St. John’s Academy, Basmati Nagar
  • 125014 – Lakshya International Academy

Following the cancellation, CBSE reviewed the matter and decided to conduct a re-examination exclusively for candidates assigned to these centres.

WHEN WILL THE CTET RE-EXAM BE HELD?

The re-examination for affected candidates will be conducted on March 1, 2026.

The revised schedule has been notified by the Director (CTET) under CBSE, which administers the national-level eligibility test.

Officials have clarified that only candidates who were allotted the above-mentioned centres are required to appear for the re-examination.

HOW CAN CANDIDATES DOWNLOAD THE REVISED ADMIT CARD?

“All the candidates who were allotted the above centres are hereby informed to download the revised admit card from their application log-in through the CTET website, i.e. ctet.nic.in and appear in the examination accordingly.”

Candidates are strongly advised to check official CTET communication channels regularly for updates regarding reporting time and examination instructions.

WILL THERE BE ANOTHER CHANCE OR CENTRE CHANGE?

CBSE has made it clear that:

  • No further opportunity will be given to these candidates to appear in the 21st edition of CTET
  • Requests for a change of examination centre or date will not be entertained under any circumstances.

This makes the March 1 re-exam the only opportunity for affected candidates.

WHAT IS CTET, AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

The Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) is a national-level qualifying examination conducted by CBSE for candidates aspiring to become teachers in central government schools and other institutions that recognise CTET scores.

Qualifying CTET is mandatory for recruitment in schools such as:

  • Kendriya Vidyalayas
  • Navodaya Vidyalayas
  • Other central government institutions

The examination serves as a benchmark to ensure quality teaching standards across the country.

With the announcement of the March 1 re-exam date, CBSE has provided a clear path forward for candidates impacted by the cancellation in Bihar. However, the board’s firm stance on “no further chance” underscores the importance of this opportunity.

Affected candidates must promptly download their revised admit cards and prepare to appear on the rescheduled date, as this will be their only chance to participate in the 21st edition of CTET February 2026.

For the latest updates, candidates should rely solely on official communication through ctet.nic.in.
