Macron’s India farewell video has a Dhurandhar twist, internet calls it ‘goated’

French President Emmanuel Macron didn’t just leave India with diplomatic takeaways, he signed off with a splash of Bollywood swagger. As Macron shared his farewell video after concluding his official visit, it was the thumping title track of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar playing in the background that caught everyone’s attention, instantly turning a routine goodbye into a viral moment.

Macron captioned the clip simply, “Thank you India!”, but viewers were quick to zero in on the unexpected musical choice.

Almost instantly, the comments section turned into a fan forum. “Is no one going to talk about the Dhurandhar background song?” one user wrote, echoing the collective surprise. While another wrote, “Goated track. Goated leaders (sic).” Another quipped, “Now this is a Dhurandhar-level meeting,” neatly tying the film’s swagger to the diplomatic visit. “Nailed it with background music (sic),” read another comment, summing up the mood online.

Macron’s three-day visit included key engagements in Mumbai and New Delhi, with the President and First Lady Brigitte Macron attending a special event alongside Indian film personalities. A major highlight of the trip was the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, reinforcing the deepening collaboration between India and France in science and technology. Earlier, both nations had co-chaired the AI Action Summit in February 2025, underscoring their shared focus on emerging technologies.

Meanwhile, Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh and featuring an ensemble cast including Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan and Arjun Rampal, released on December 5 last year.

The franchise is set to expand with Dhurandhar: The Revenge, scheduled for a theatrical release on March 19. The newly unveiled Hindi teaser has already generated buzz, with the sequel expected to face stiff box-office competition from Toxic, starring Yash.
