Samsung Galaxy S27 series details leak, Ultra likely to get UFS 5.0 storage

It’s not been more than two months since Samsung launched the Galaxy S26 series. But speculations about its next generation Galaxy S27 series are already taking rounds on the internet. A fresh leak suggests that it will be equipped with UFS 5.0 storage, which was officially announced last year, with early specifications published this year, and is expected to debut in smartphones later this year or early next year. The current Galaxy S26 Ultra model has UFS 4.0 storage.

According to a post of YYeux1122 on Naver, Samsung will introduce UFS 5.0 storage in select models of the Galaxy S27 series, rather than implementing it across the entire lineup. This is likely due to the ongoing global shortage of memory and chipsets. The leak suggests that the base storage configuration will remain unchanged.

The Galaxy S27 series expected specs and features

The upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a custom Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro chipset and may come equipped with a 200-megapixel quad rear camera setup.

Another leak suggests that Samsung may reserve UFS 5.0 storage exclusively for the flagship Galaxy S27 Ultra. This means that the standard Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27+ could continue to use UFS 4.0 or a slightly upgraded version, similar to other Android flagships like the OnePlus 15 and the Xiaomi 17, which feature UFS 4.1. For reference, the current Galaxy S26 Ultra comes with UFS 4.0 storage.

Earlier rumours indicated that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could come with S Pen support with a digitiser. It is likely to have a quad back camera module led by a 1/1.12-inch 200-megapixel sensor-supporting LOFIC technology.

For context, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 6.9-inch Dynamic LTPO AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 2600 nits peak brightness. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset built on a 3nm process, delivering top-tier performance. For photography, it offers a quad rear camera setup comprising a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 10-megapixel 3x telephoto lens, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. It packs a 5,000mAh battery with 60W wired and 25W wireless charging support, ensuring reliable all-day usage.
