Felt bad for Virat Kohli: Influencer reacts after RCB star trolled for like

Instagram influencer LizLaz reacted to Virat Kohli liking her picture and said she felt bad seeing the RCB star getting trolled online. Kohli was back in the spotlight for off-field reasons after a social media activity triggered a flurry of online reactions. A simple ‘like’ on a post featuring the German-South African influencer quickly went viral, sparking a wave of memes and jokes, with fans revisiting his well-known “algorithm” remark.

The interaction, involving an older post by LizLaz and photographer Advait Vaidya, drew attention as Kohli doesn’t follow the account. Screenshots spread rapidly, turning a minor action into a trending topic. Social media soon embraced the moment with humour rather than criticism, with “algorithm registered another interaction” becoming the go-to punchline. Kohli went on to unlike the picture after the like went viral.

Speaking to Hindustan Times, the influencer said she was initially happy to see Kohli like the picture but felt bad for him as he was forced to unlike it. LizLaz said that she was still grateful for Kohli’s support.

“No, I felt a bit sorry for him actually!,” says Liz to HT, “I was so happy that he liked it, but then him unliking it, I felt a bit bad for him because I don’t even know how it became such a big story. How did people notice, how did they make it news that was probably not his intention behind it, but still I am grateful for it and I appreciate the support from him.”

WHEN DID LIZLAZ KNOW ABOUT KOHLI’S LIKE?

LizLaz said she didn’t know when Kohli liked her picture and got to know about it when the news went viral on social media and other platforms. The Influencer said she got a lot of messages and people were excited about Kohli liking her picture.

“It was crazy because I woke up and then I was all over the news. I don’t even know when he liked the picture, I learnt through the news. So many people found the articles done on me on many different platforms and sent them to me in my DMs. I got so many messages today, people were super excited about it,” said LizLaz to Hindustan Times.

An old video of LizLaz supporting RCB went viral after the Kohli like row. The German influencer said that she is a RCB fan and started following them last year. The German influencer finds Kohli to be the most exciting player to watch.

“It was obviously the IPL last year, so I started watching with my Bangalorean friends. It was contagious. I was also becoming a Royal Challengers Bangalore fan. And obviously, if you support RCB, Virat Kohli is the most exciting player to watch. He’s just so good. So I was happy about him liking the picture,” said LizLaz.

Kohli is currently in good form for RCB this season, scoring 228 runs in five matches.
