Rajkummar Rao’s Sourav Ganguly biopic to begin filming in March; key scenes to be shot at Lord’s cricket ground – Reports

Among the most awaited sports dramas, filmmakers Vikramaditya Motwane and Luv Ranjan, along with Ankur Garg, are set to begin shooting the Sourav Ganguly biopic this March. Starring Rajkummar Rao in the lead, the film will be shot at two legendary cricket venues: Lord’s Cricket Ground and Eden Gardens.

Rajkummar Rao’s film to shoot at real cricket venues

According to Pinkvilla, makers have identified Lord’s and Eden Gardens as key locations to authentically recreate defining chapters from Ganguly’s cricket career. Lord’s, often referred to as the Mecca of Cricket, holds historic significance in Ganguly’s journey; hence, makers decided to shoot at the real locations. Motwane and Luv Films are keen on mounting the biopic on a grand scale. Shooting at the real locations was always part of the vision. Permissions are being worked out, and the team plans to begin filming in March at various locations like Kolkata, Mumbai and London.

As per reports, Rajkummar has dived into preparations for his next big project, where he will portray cricket legend Sourav Ganguly. Known for fully immersing himself in every character, Rao will undergo extensive cricket training to perfect the former captain’s signature style and spirit. The upcoming film will trace Ganguly’s inspiring journey, celebrating his achievements and influence on Indian cricket.

Rajkummar Rao wraps ‘Nikam’ and gears up for his next project

Meanwhile, Rajkummar recently announced that he finished filming for ‘Nikam’ and is set to embark on a fresh round of physical training to prepare for his next role as former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly in an upcoming biopic. The film is scheduled to begin production around March 2026.
