Delhi Car Blast: PM Modi Expresses Condolences, High-Level Probe Underway

A car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening has left at least eight people dead and 24 injured, prompting a high-level security response and condolences from the nation’s top leadership.

Leadership Response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials. “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest,” the Prime Minister said.

President Droupadi Murmu also expressed her condolences, stating: “I convey my heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives. I pray for quick recovery of those injured.”

Security Response

Home Minister Amit Shah confirmed that authorities are “considering all possibilities” regarding the blast. Security teams from Delhi Crime Branch and Special Branch reached the spot within 10 minutes of the incident.

Shah has directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA), National Security Guard (NSG), and Directorate of Forensic Sciences to send teams to assist in the probe and evidence collection.

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha provided details: “Today at around 6.52 pm, a slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light. An explosion happened in that vehicle, and nearby vehicles were also damaged. All agencies, FSL, NIA are here… The Home Minister has also called us, and information is being shared with him from time to time.”

The investigation continues to determine the cause of the explosion as authorities maintain heightened security across the capital.
