Google Gemini Creates 8-Second Videos from Text with Sound

Google Gemini Transforms Text into 8-Second Videos with Sound

Google has unveiled a groundbreaking video generation feature in its Gemini app that converts simple text prompts into 8-second animated videos complete with sound effects and dialogue. This innovation makes professional-quality video creation accessible to users without any editing experience.

Key Takeaways

  • Gemini can generate 8-second videos from text prompts with sound and dialogue
  • The feature works with both text descriptions and user-provided images
  • Currently available only to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers
  • Reliance Jio offers 18-month free subscription with eligible 5G plans

How Gemini’s Video Generation Works

In a recent demonstration shared on the official Made by Google X account, the company showed how Gemini transformed an image of two houseplants into an animated invitation video. The prompt “Two animated house plants inside this home invite us to a housewarming party at Emily’s this Sunday at noon” resulted in an 8-second clip where the plants appeared to talk and move naturally with background music.

The social media post stated: “Create an invitation right from your imagination. With video generation in the @GeminiApp you can turn simple descriptions into high-quality, 8-second videos with sound effects and dialogue. You can even work off your own images.”

Accessibility and Subscription Requirements

Currently, Gemini’s video-generation capability is restricted to paid subscribers of Google AI Pro or Google AI Ultra plans. Free users cannot access the full video creation feature, though Google has occasionally run limited-time promotions offering complimentary generations.

According to Google’s official documentation, personal account holders must maintain an active Pro or Ultra subscription to use video generation. While some regions previously offered free trials, no ongoing free access is currently available.

Free Access Through Reliance Jio

Indian telecom provider Reliance Jio has introduced an exclusive offer bundling an 18-month Google AI Pro subscription (valued at over ₹3,500) with eligible 5G Unlimited plans priced at ₹349 or higher. This promotion covers both prepaid and postpaid customers, providing free access to Gemini’s premium features including video generation.

To maintain the complimentary Google AI Pro service, subscribers must remain on an eligible 5G Unlimited plan throughout the entire 18-month period.
