OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Student Prompts for Indian Learners

Key Takeaways

  • OpenAI launches dedicated student prompts for Indian learners
  • Features 50+ real-world examples from top institutions like IIT Madras
  • Completely free access with one-click ChatGPT integration
  • India leads global ChatGPT mobile usage with 13.5% share

OpenAI has launched ‘Chats for Students in India’ on October 27, providing college students with specialized AI prompts to enhance their academic experience. The initiative offers practical ChatGPT applications for studying, skill development, and daily campus life.

India’s Growing AI Education Presence

This student-focused rollout follows ChatGPT’s ‘Study Mode’ introduction in India. According to Mary Meeker’s Internet Trends Report (2025), India now represents 13.5% of global ChatGPT mobile app users – the highest share among all countries worldwide.

“ChatGPT is now one of the largest learning platforms on the planet. Over 50% of our users in India are under 24, so students form a major audience,” stated Leah Belsky, VP of Education at OpenAI, during the company’s India-first learning accelerator launch in August.

Top Student Prompts for Academic Success

The ‘Chats for Students in India’ webpage features over 50 real-world prompts inspired by usage patterns at leading institutions including IIT Madras, Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), and Delhi Technical Campus.

Featured prompts include:

  • Career Planning: “Create a step-by-step strategy to help me land a software engineering internship at Surfline with milestone checklists”
  • Study Assistance: “Help me understand my notes and slides like a study buddy [Upload docs]”
  • Exam Preparation: “Make me a study guide for my exam in [course] [Upload docs]”
  • Project Development: “Define a proof of concept to turn my project idea into reality as a top 1% developer”
  • Time Management: “Create a study schedule using spaced repetition for [Your time frame] [Upload docs]”

Seamless Access and Implementation

Every prompt on the platform opens directly in ChatGPT with a single click, requiring users to simply press Enter to begin their session. The service remains entirely free and accessible to all ChatGPT users across India, supporting the growing ecosystem.

The initiative covers comprehensive academic needs including exam preparation, project work, skill development, decision-making support, and career research – all designed to help students practically integrate AI into their educational journey.
