An 18-year-old student from Chennai has created history by becoming the first female student from Tamil Nadu to visit Russia’s premier space facilities. Dhaanvi Karthikeyan was selected among just five students from India to attend the International Aerospace Camp in Moscow after a nationwide competition involving 5 lakh participants.

Historic Achievement in Space Exploration

During the five-day camp, Dhaanvi had the rare opportunity to visit astronaut training facilities and observe satellite manufacturing processes at the International Aerospace Centre in Moscow. The Virugambakkam resident described the experience as a “dream come true” that wouldn’t have been possible without her deep interest in quantum mechanics.

Direct Interaction with Cosmonauts

“I have been extremely privileged to represent the country at the International Aerospace Camp in Moscow,” Dhaanvi said. “My interest in quantum mechanics led me to astrophysics and then aerospace engineering. I got access to some of the finest cosmonauts in Russia, spoke with them, and witnessed the technical aspects firsthand.”

She expressed gratitude to Movsta for the opportunity, calling the experience “larger than life” and a “big dream come true.”

Balancing Medicine and Physics

Despite being a medical aspirant who recently completed Class XII and appeared for NEET, Dhaanvi pursued her passion for physics by completing an online Quantum Mechanics course from Stanford University through a private institute.

Family Pride and Homecoming

Her father, Karthikeyan, who works in a software company, and her entire family expressed immense pride in her international achievement. Upon returning to Chennai, Dhaanvi received an enthusiastic welcome from relatives and friends at the airport, creating a proud moment for Tamil Nadu.
