Apple is rumoured to be working on an all-new Siri for quite a while now. The Cupertino giant is expected to showcase the overhauled version of its virtual assistant later this year, potentially during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026. However, it seems that the company may have dropped a clue even before the conference takes place in June.
As per a report from Bloomberg, Apple’s teaser for WWDC 2026 came with a subtle hint of what to expect from the new Siri.
Siri may get new glow effect
Apple is reportedly changing the look of Siri, according to recent reports. The company’s WWDC 2026 logo, which features a harsh-looking, overexposed glare on the numbers ‘26’, is likely similar to Siri’s new visual style.
The Cupertino giant may be revamping Siri’s classic imagery. The new design could replace or add to its current look. Another WWDC 2026 teaser on the Apple website showcases a similar glare effect.
This overexposed effect, known in photography as halation, is an imitation of intense overexposure where some colours distort into the darker areas of the image.
Do note that the Cupertino giant has a history of dropping hints with teasers. Earlier this year, the company used a 3D glass logo in yellow and green for a special experience event. The company showcased the new MacBook Neo at the event, which came in similar colours.
What will new Siri look like?
It is believed that Siri may show this glare effect on the Dynamic Island when used. When someone uses Siri, inside the Dynamic Island, they may see text, like “Search or Ask” along with this glow on the outline of the island.
While the Dynamic Island is available on iPhone 14 Pro and newer models, some aspects of the new Siri design could be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and newer due to Apple Intelligence support. iPhones without the Dynamic Island, such as the iPhone 17e, may see a similar effect on the screen.
What to expect from new Siri
Apple will be using Google Gemini models to power Siri. The updated Siri will likely be able to do a lot more when it comes to complex tasks and queries. Currently, the virtual assistant uses ChatGPT to handle complex queries.
Apart from just making Siri a more advanced tool, Apple is also expected to bring a dedicated Siri app with iOS 27, that may turn the virtual assistant into a chatbot, akin to ChatGPT or Gemini.
When will Apple launch the new Siri?
The Cupertino giant will likely first showcase the new Siri during WWDC 2026 that begins on June 8, 2026. However, you may have to wait for longer before you get your hands on the revamped virtual assistant. The company is likely to take the wraps off its latest OS versions during the conference, including iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27, watchOS 27, and more.
Apple is expected to release the new Siri as part of the iOS 27 update that will likely be rolled out alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models and the iPhone Fold in September this year.
