SunRisers Hyderabad’s bowling stocks have been further depleted, with fast bowler Brydon Carse being ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2026 season. SRH, who already have a thin fast bowling attack due to the unavailability of captain Pat Cummins, were jolted further by the development on Tuesday, April 14.
Carse copped a hand injury ahead of SRH’s IPL opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on March 28. Subsequently, he has not been able to recover from the injury. He was expected to be one of the first names on the teamsheet this season, especially in the absence of Cummins.
The Indian cricket board announced the development via an official press release, stating that SRH have signed Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement.
“Dilshan Madushanka, a left-arm medium pacer, has represented Sri Lanka in 1 Test, 28 ODIs and 19 T20Is, and has 70 wickets in international cricket to his name. He will join SRH for INR 75 lakh,” the statement said.

The Sri Lankan bowler was previously a part of Mumbai Indians in the IPL and brings experience of operating in Indian conditions.
Meanwhile, SRH captain Cummins, who is currently in Australia to undergo fitness tests, is expected to travel back to India on April 17. Cummins, who also captains Australia, will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday, and if he clears it, there is a chance he could return to action for SRH.
The Australian has been dealing with a back injury since last July, which forced him to miss the T20 World Cup. His only appearance since then has been a solitary Ashes Test in December. His prolonged absence has been a concern for both the national team and the franchise, given his key role in the pace attack and leadership duties.
As per a Cricbuzz report, Cummins is likely to clear a fitness test and get the NOC from Cricket Australia.
“Cummins, the captain of Australia, will undergo a fitness test on Wednesday back home, and if he clears it, there is an element of optimism in the franchise. There is a chance he could start playing for them. Cummins is expected to be back in Hyderabad on April 17. SRH play their next match on Friday, April 18, at home,” the report said.
SRH’s next match is set to be played on April 18, against CSK.
