King Charles Strips Prince Andrew of Royal Titles, Orders Him Out

Key Takeaways

  • King Charles III has removed all royal titles from Prince Andrew
  • Andrew has been ordered to vacate his Windsor home, Royal Lodge
  • The decision follows renewed public anger over the Jeffrey Epstein scandal
  • Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor

King Charles III has taken the most decisive action yet against his brother Prince Andrew, stripping him of all royal titles and ordering him to leave his Windsor home. Buckingham Palace confirmed the dramatic move on Thursday, marking a significant step in distancing the monarchy from the disgraced royal.

The palace stated that “Prince Andrew will now be known as Andrew Mountbatten Windsor” and confirmed Charles initiated the formal process to remove his brother’s titles. The 65-year-old prince has also been instructed to vacate the Royal Lodge, where he has lived for over two decades, and relocate to “alternative private accommodation.”

Virginia Giuffre Memoir Sparks Renewed Outrage

The announcement comes amid fresh public anger following the posthumous release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir. In the book, she detailed claims that Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her to have sex with Andrew when she was 17 years old.

Giuffre, who died by suicide in April at age 41, was one of Epstein’s main accusers. She had previously reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with Andrew in 2022 to end her civil lawsuit in the United States.

Palace Statement and Family Reaction

“These censures are deemed necessary, notwithstanding the fact that he continues to deny the allegations against him,” the palace said. They emphasized that the King and Queen’s “thoughts and utmost sympathies have been, and will remain with, the victims and survivors of any and all forms of abuse.”

Giuffre’s family welcomed the move, calling it a “victory” for her legacy. “Today, an ordinary American girl from an ordinary American family brought down a British prince with her truth and extraordinary courage,” they told the BBC.

Andrew’s Response and Future Arrangements

According to AFP sources, Andrew did not contest the King’s decision and will move to Sandringham in Norfolk, with the move funded privately by Charles. His ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, will make separate living arrangements.

While Andrew loses his royal titles, his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, will retain their royal status.

Growing Public Anger Over Royal Privileges

Public outrage intensified in recent weeks following reports that Andrew paid minimal rent for his £30 million Royal Lodge residence under a favorable 2003 deal. The revelation, combined with reports that he once hosted Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, and Harvey Weinstein at the estate, has further damaged his reputation.
