Khamenei’s son-in-law, daughter-in-law killed in strikes: Tehran Council member

The son-in-law and daughter-in-law of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Hosseini Khamenei, were killed in the US-Israel strikes, a member of the Tehran City Council said Saturday, Reuters said citing Young Journalists Club.

The strikes, which US and Israeli officials have described as targeting strategic military infrastructure, reportedly hit several sites in and around Tehran overnight. Iranian state media said multiple explosions were heard across the capital, and emergency services were dispatched to affected areas. Independent verification of the casualties was not immediately possible.

Officials in Washington and Jerusalem have not publicly commented on the reported deaths of Khamenei’s relatives. Previous statements characterized the operation as a limited action aimed at degrading what they described as threats to regional security.

The deaths of the Supreme Leader’s family members are likely to intensify domestic pressure on Tehran’s leadership to respond. State television aired footage of black-clad mourners gathering outside government buildings, while clerics called for national unity during televised addresses.

International leaders urged restraint amid fears that further retaliation could ignite a broader regional conflict. Oil prices rose sharply in early trading, reflecting concerns over potential disruptions in the energy-rich Gulf region.

Iran has vowed that it will not allow attacks on its territory to go unanswered. Analysts say any response could further inflame tensions already strained by years of covert operations, sanctions, and proxy confrontations across the Middle East.

More details are awaited as Iranian authorities continued to assess the damage and casualties from the strikes.
