Two individuals have been arrested following a violent stabbing incident aboard a train bound for Huntingdon, Cambridge, which left multiple passengers injured. Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed that armed officers were dispatched to Huntingdon station after receiving a call at 7:39 PM local time on Saturday.

The East of England Ambulance Service initiated a major response, sending numerous ambulances, tactical commanders, and a hazardous area response team. A spokesperson confirmed that “multiple patients” were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Eyewitness Accounts of the Attack

A passenger aboard the train reported to Sky News that a man moved through the carriage warning others, “They’ve got a knife, I’ve been stabbed.” The anonymous witness described the individual as “extremely bloodied” and said he collapsed to the floor by the time the train came to a stop, being taken away by ambulance shortly after.

Other witnesses reported seeing injured people sprinting through carriages to escape an assailant armed with a knife. Armed police were later seen aiming their weapons at a man holding a large blade on the platform. The suspect was subsequently subdued with a taser and restrained.

Official Condemnation and Police Response

Authorities confirmed the attack occurred on the 6:25 PM LNER train service from Doncaster to London King’s Cross, shortly after it departed Peterborough.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer issued a statement on social media platform X, calling the event “appalling” and “deeply concerning.”

“The appalling incident on a train near Huntingdon is deeply concerning. My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response. Anyone in the area should follow the advice of the police,” the prime minister said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Huntingdon MP Ben Obese-Jecty praised the “quick and effective response” from emergency services, noting he had “never seen as big a response to an emergency incident.”

British Transport Police confirmed on X that they were “responding to an incident on a train to Huntingdon where multiple people have been stabbed” and that two people were arrested. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood also condemned the attack while urging the public to avoid speculation.

Cambridgeshire Constabulary has asked anyone with information to report it online, quoting incident 495 of November 1, or by calling 101.
