Is Devin Booker out of NBA 2025-26 season? Phoenix Suns brace for crucial games without star player as concerns grow

The Phoenix Suns declared on Saturday that Devin Booker would miss the remainder of the month. Booker did not play in the team’s 121-94 loss to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday after suffering a right hip strain early in the game. The Phoenix Suns, who lost to the San Antonio Spurs on Thursday in their first game since the All-Star break, will try to get back in the win column.

After only nine minutes of play, Suns standout Devin Booker left the game due to right hip pain in the 121-94 loss to the Spurs. Along with Haywood Highsmith, who was signed by the team before the All-Star break and is recuperating from knee surgery, Phoenix gave an update on him.

Devin Booker’s injury timeline raises concern as Phoenix Suns await crucial reevaluation

Azcentral’s Duane Rankin reported on Saturday that Devin Booker will have another evaluation in a week due to hip pain. Booker has now had two serious injuries this season. Due to a sprained ankle, he missed seven games in a row in late January and early February.

According to the insider, Haywood Highsmith “will continue his rehabilitation following right knee surgery last offseason,” In two to three weeks, he will have another evaluation.

Booker will not be able to make the All-NBA team if he misses six more games this season, as he has already missed twelve. He can only miss one more game the rest of the season to remain eligible, and his earliest possible comeback date is March 3.

The Suns also revealed that Haywood Highsmith, a recent addition, is still recuperating from surgery on his right knee. He will have another evaluation in 14–21 days. He hasn’t performed this year.

During the All-Star break last week, Phoenix signed him.

The Brooklyn Nets dismissed the 29-year-old on February 5 and he signed a multiyear contract with the Suns. Since April, when he was a member of the Miami Heat organization, he has not played in a game.

The Suns will be shorthanded going forward, but on Thursday, Dillon Brooks, who was suspended for one game for his 16th technical foul of the season, will return.

Phoenix Suns adjust rotation as Devin Booker’s hip issue clouds pivotal homestand

Due to stiffness in his right hip, Booker was unable to complete the first half of Thursday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs. When Booker is not playing, Phoenix has a 5-7 record for the season. The Suns (32-24) play the Orlando Magic (29-25) on February 21 to start a four-game homestand. On February 22, they played the Portland Trail Blazers (27-30).

The Suns then host the Los Angeles Lakers (34-21) on February 26 and the Boston Celtics (36-29) on February 24. The team will need to find someone or several people to take up the playmaking load in his absence, especially in their Thursday game against the Los Angeles Lakers, which could be a crucial one in the final Western Conference standings. He leads the team in points, assists, and shots per game.

As he continues to recover from offseason surgery on his right knee, Suns forward Haywood Highsmith will have another evaluation in two to three weeks, the organization also said on Saturday.
