Temperatures to rise gradually in North India from Friday, South braces for rain

As the winter chill begins to retreat, India is transitioning into a classic spring phase with a mix of clear skies and rising temperatures.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a gradual rise in maximum temperatures by three to four degrees Celsius is expected over the plains of Northwest India during the next seven days.

This warming trend is echoed by weather forecaster Navdeep Dahiya, who notes that while afternoons will remain pleasant at around 25 to 27 degrees Celsius for the next two days, the heat will intensify from the weekend onwards with temperatures soaring above 30 degrees Celsius.

WILL IT RAIN IN NORTHERN INDIA TOMORROW?

The short answer is no. Skymet reports that the wet spell is over for Delhi, Haryana, and Rajasthan as the Western Disturbance moves away.

This means clear weather is on the horizon.

Devendra Tripathi, founder of Mausam Tak and weather vlogger for Kisan Tak, explains that on Friday, February 20, there will be a slight dip in minimum temperatures across the Indo-Gangetic Plains, including Punjab, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh, due to cold winds blowing from the mountains.

However, he adds that the daily temperature can increase a little more compared to today because the sky will be almost completely clear in all places.

IS THE SOUTH PREPARING FOR HEAVY RAIN?

While the north stays dry, the south is bracing for moisture. The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall at isolated places over south Tamil Nadu and Kerala on February 21 and 22.

Devendra Tripathi points out that clouds will increase across Chennai, Puducherry, and the entire Tamil Nadu coastal region.

He notes that a low pressure system in the Bay of Bengal is being followed by another developing system, which could provide rainfall in many states in the south peninsular region in the coming days.

For those in the Western Himalayan region, Devendra Tripathi mentions that the weather will be pleasant in the mornings and evenings, though the bright sunny sky will make the days feel a little hot.
