IGNOU January 2026 cycle underway, last date March 15, 2026; apply here

The Indira Gandhi National Open University has commenced the application process for the January 2026 admission cycle. The admission portal for Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and Online Programmes is currently active, with candidates able to submit their applications.

The university has fixed March 15, 2026 as the last date for submission of applications for all programmes, except certificate and semester-based courses. The same deadline applies to programmes offered through Online mode.

The application process is underway through the university’s dedicated admission portals. New applicants are required to complete registration before proceeding to fill in the online application form.

The university has instructed candidates to keep their APAAR ID ready before starting the process.

For the January 2026 cycle, the deadline of March 15, 2026 does not apply to certificate and semester-based programmes, which are governed by separate timelines. Applicants are required to carefully select the mode of study while submitting their forms.

The university has extended the last date to apply for Online Programmes to March 15, 2026, excluding certificate and semester-based courses.

Candidates applying under the Online mode must ensure they meet the specified requirements before enrolment.

All academic content, assignments and related communication will be delivered digitally. Applicants who are not comfortable with online learning have been advised to enrol through the ODL mode.

Details of the Online Programmes offered for the January 2026 session are available on the dedicated Online Programmes portal of the university.

Students who secure admission and meet eligibility criteria may apply for Government of India scholarships through the National Scholarship Portal after confirmation of their admission. Scholarship applications can be submitted at scholarships.gov.in.

The admission portal also provides access to programme information, regional centres, frequently asked questions and helpdesk support. The January 2026 admission process remains open until March 15, 2026 for eligible programmes, excluding certificate and semester-based courses.
