Hyundai posts highest-ever February sales at 66,134 units

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has recorded its highest-ever total sales for the month of February, clocking 66,134 units in February 2026, marking 12.6 percent year-on-year growth.

The performance was driven by robust domestic demand and healthy export momentum. Domestic sales stood at 52,407 units, up 9.8 percent YoY, making it the company’s highest-ever February domestic tally since inception. Exports contributed 13,727 units, registering a sharp 24.8 percent YoY growth, further strengthening Hyundai’s global footprint from India.

Domestic demand fuels growth

The company’s record-breaking domestic sales underscore sustained customer demand across its product portfolio. The February numbers follow a strong start to the calendar year, reinforcing Hyundai’s positive growth trajectory in 2026.

Exports maintain upward momentum

Exports continued to play a significant role in the overall performance, with overseas shipments growing at a faster pace than domestic sales. The 24.8 percent YoY increase reflects rising acceptance of Hyundai’s India-made models in global markets.

Commenting on the achievement, Tarun Garg, Managing Director and CEO of HMIL, said the company has carried forward the strong momentum from January into February, achieving its best-ever February performance in both total and domestic sales.

He added that as Hyundai approaches 30 years of operations in India, the brand remains focused on making advanced connected technologies more accessible while enhancing the overall ownership experience and expanding its global presence through exports from India.

However, despite registering its highest-ever February sales, Hyundai Motor India Limited continues to trail domestic rivals Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra in the monthly rankings. Mahindra, for instance, reported domestic sales of 60,018 units, reflecting a strong 19 percent growth.

For some time now, Hyundai has ceded the second position in the Indian passenger vehicle market to one of the two homegrown carmakers. Whether the Korean automaker can regain its long-held No. 2 spot in the coming months remains to be seen.
