Hero Destini 110 review, first ride: one of the most affordable scooters out there

The new generation Hero scooters pack in quite a punch. The Xoom series caters to the enthusiast and the Destini 110 is aimed at the family man. It takes on the Honda Activa, TVS Jupiter and so on. Additionally, apart from the TVS Zest 110, it is also the most affordable scooter and is priced at Rs 79,000 (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the top ZX variant. So let’s delve into the product and dissect the pros and cons.

Hero Destini 110: Design and features

The Destini 110 positions itself as a no-nonsense family scooter, and that character is evident in its design and build. It features a sturdy all-metal body, complemented by high-quality paintwork that feels durable and refined. Chrome highlights placed throughout the scooter further enhance its premium appeal.

The Destini 110 is supposed to be a simple and straightforward family scooter and it shows. It comes with an all-metal body and the quality of paint is top class. There are chrome accents all around that add to the premium feel. The scooter comes with a uniquely shaped headlamp unit that houses an LED projector and also has LED DRLs. You may or may not like the design, but the beam is rather good.

The rear styling of the Destini 110 bears a resemblance to the Vida lineup of electric scooters, giving it a distinctive look. It also features an externally mounted fuel filler cap at the rear, which can be accessed using the central combination lock.

The rear-end design of the Destini 110 reminds us of the Vida range of electric scooters and it sure looks unique. The scooter also gets an external fuel filler cap at the back and is operable via the central combination lock.

In today’s day and age when digital displays are becoming common, the Destini 110 gets an analogue speedo and a small digital readout for other info. Somehow, we prefer the analogue speedo because it is clear to read and has a certain charm to it.

The Destini 110 also comes with a spacious and flat floorboard that can house quite a bit of luggage. The inner apron also has space for a bottle and that sure comes in handy. The under-seat stowage bin, though, is something which could be bettered. The problem is that the Destini 110 houses the fuel tank at the back and hence it eats up valuable space. Otherwise, the boot is deep and can hold a decent amount of kit.

Engine and suspension

The Destini 110 is powered by a 110.9cc engine that delivers 8.07bhp at 7,250rpm and 8.87Nm of torque at 5,750rpm. The engine sends power to the rear wheel through a CVT gearbox.

Hero claims a fuel efficiency of 56.2kmpl, and with a 5.3-litre fuel tank, the scooter offers a respectable claimed range of around 300km.

The scooter gets telescopic forks at the front and a rear shock absorber, tuned for a comfortable everyday ride.

On the suspension front, the scooter uses telescopic forks at the front and a rear shock absorber setup, aimed at delivering a balanced ride suited for everyday conditions.

Hero Destini 110: How is it to ride?

The Destini 110 gets a long 785mm seat with a 770mm height, offering excellent comfort. The riding posture feels relaxed, and the wide floorboard gives plenty of room to stretch your feet in city traffic.

The Destini 110 features a generously long seat measuring 785mm, with a seat height of 770mm. Numbers aside, what truly stands out is the overall comfort it offers. The seating position feels natural and relaxed, while the wide floorboard provides ample space to move your feet around during city commutes.

The handlebar is ergonomically placed, fitting naturally in your hands and making short city rides through traffic feel smooth and easy.

The handlebar is well-positioned too, falling easily into your hands and making quick rides through traffic feel effortless. At startup, the engine feels smooth, and the scooter reaches a cruising speed of 40kmph without any noticeable vibrations. In fact, the engine’s sweet spot lies between 40kmph and 60kmph, making it effortless to cruise within this range all day. Beyond 60kmph, performance tapers off slightly, and the engine takes its time to build up to higher speeds.

The engine feels smooth at startup and cruises comfortably at 40kmph without vibrations. Its sweet spot is between 40–60kmph, while performance beyond 60kmph feels slightly slower.

We also appreciate how well the Destini 110 handles poor road conditions. The suspension is well-tuned, with the rear set up on the softer side to effectively absorb ruts and potholes. The seat adds an extra layer of cushioning, further smoothing out bumps. While the front suspension is mildly stiff, it never feels uncomfortable.

Despite its family-oriented nature, the Destini 110 remains enjoyable through sweeping corners, offering ample grip and a hint of fun when the road begins to twist.

Hero Destini 110: Verdict

The Destini 110 is priced significantly lower than the segment leader, positioning it as a compelling value-for-money option in its class.

Hero has done a commendable job with the Destini 110. It offers easy handling, a smooth engine, and a comfortable riding experience, all complemented by a generous feature list. There are a few minor drawbacks, such as limited under-seat storage, but none of them are significant enough to be deal-breakers.

Most importantly, the Destini 110 is priced noticeably below the market leader, making it a strong value-for-money proposition in its segment.
