As the Iran-Israel-US war escalates, bold revelations come from Iran. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed they have ‘struck’ the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Gulf, retaliating for US-Israeli strikes that killed Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In a statement via local media, the Guards said the carrier was hit by four ballistic missiles, vowing that “land and sea will increasingly become the graveyard of terrorist aggressors,”, per the Times of Israel.
While there has been no confirmation from the US Navy or the White House, the US Central Command claimed to have struck down an Iranian Jamaran-class corvette by U.S. forces during the start of ‘Operation Epic Fury.’
In an X post, US Central Command said, “An Iranian Jamaran-class corvette was struck by U.S. forces during the start of Operation Epic Fury. The ship is currently sinking to the bottom of the Gulf of Oman at a Chah Bahar pier.”
USS Abraham Lincoln
The USS Abraham Lincoln, a Nimitz-class carrier, has been stationed in the Arabian Sea and northern Indian Ocean since early January 2026 as part of a US military buildup amid rising Iran tensions. The carrier includes the latest F-35 stealth jets, capable of evading enemy radar.
The strike group includes three destroyers armed with Tomahawk land-attack cruise missiles and is typically escorted by a nuclear-powered submarine capable of launching the same munitions.
It departed San Diego in late November 2025, transited the South China Sea for drills, then entered US CENTCOM’s Middle East area in January 2026, via the Gulf of Oman in the Arabian Sea to counter rising Iran threats amid protests and proxy conflicts.
Since January, it has been deployed in the Gulf while tensions between the US and Iran escalated from conflicts to a full-blown war.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed four ballistic missile hits on the Lincoln in retaliation, calling it a new phase of combat.
Along with USS Abraham Lincoln, the United States has also deployed the world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerard Ford, reportedly positioned as a defensive shield near Israel.
On Saturday US and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury and Operation Roaring Lion. President Trump announced “major combat operations” to dismantle threats, in which Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed.
Israel’s Airforce deployed 200 fighters with hundreds of munitions against 500 targets, like the IRGC Headquarters.
