The State Bank of India (SBI) is expected to release the official notification for the recruitment of Probationary Officers (PO) for 2026 soon on its official website, sbi. co. in. The notification will contain complete details about vacancies, eligibility criteria, important dates, exam pattern, and the application process.

The SBI PO exam is one of the most popular banking recruitment exams in the country. Last year, nearly 6.5 lakh candidates applied for the examination. The post of Probationary Officer continues to attract a large number of graduates because of its salary, job security, and career growth opportunities.

As per existing pay structure, the basic salary for an SBI PO is ₹48,480 per month. It is considered one of the highest-paying entry-level posts in public sector banks.

Along with salary, officers also receive structured promotions based on performance and seniority. Over time, a Probationary Officer can move to senior management and even top leadership roles within the bank.

SBI PO 2026: Age and Eligibility

Candidates applying for SBI PO 2026 must be between 21 and 30 years of age. Age relaxation will be provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government rules. Applicants must hold a graduation degree from a recognised university to be eligible.

SBI PO 2026: Selection Process

The selection process will be conducted in three stages:

  • This is a screening test. It includes questions on reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude, and English language.

  • This stage includes reasoning, data analysis, general awareness, English language, and descriptive writing.

  • In the final stage, candidates are assessed on communication skills, personality, and suitability for the role.

  2. Click on the “Careers” link available on the homepage.

  3. You will be redirected to the SBI Careers portal.

  4. Look for the latest announcements or current openings section.

  5. Click on the “SBI PO Recruitment 2026 Notification” link.

  6. The official PDF will open on the screen.

  7. Download and save it for future reference.
