Rory McIlroy is one of golf’s biggest names and his private life has often been part of the public story. Poppy quickly became a fan favorite, including a memorable moment at the Masters when she drained a long putt during the Par 3 contest. He and Erica have often spoken about prioritising family even as his playing schedule demands travel and training.
The balance was tested in 2024. Reports were rife that McIlroy filed for divorce in May, citing a breakdown in their relationship. The news surprised many and got a lot of media attention. But, within weeks, the couple reconciled and dismissed the divorce filing. McIlroy later said they sorted out their problems privately and chose to stay together for their family.
