5,000 teacher posts open in Chhattisgarh, notification soon

The Chhattisgarh government is set to begin a major teacher recruitment drive to fill 5,000 vacant posts in government schools. The School Education Department will soon release the official advertisement, while the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board (Vyapam) has been assigned the responsibility of conducting the recruitment examination.

Officials said the department has completed the required formalities and handed over the relevant documents to Vyapam. The recruitment process is expected to begin in February 2026. Candidates will be selected through a written examination.

The move follows directions from the Chief Minister to address the shortage of teachers in state-run schools. The vacancies will be filled through direct recruitment under the ongoing efforts to strengthen the education system.

POSTS ACROSS MULTIPLE TEACHING CATEGORIES

The recruitment will cover several categories, including Lecturer, Teacher, Assistant Teacher and Assistant Teacher (Science – Laboratory). These posts will be open to candidates with different academic qualifications, allowing a wide pool of applicants to participate in the process.

Officials said the recruitment is expected to create employment opportunities for thousands of youth in the state. It is also aimed at improving classroom teaching and ensuring that schools have adequate staff.

The announcement comes at a time when the state’s school education system is dealing with the impact of previous recruitment changes. During the fifth phase of Teacher Direct Recruitment 2023, the services of 2,621 candidates with B.Ed qualifications were terminated following court directions.

The court had ruled in favour of appointing candidates with D.Ed qualifications for primary teaching posts.

NOTIFICATION AND EXAM DETAILS AWAITED

Following this, D.Ed-qualified candidates were given the opportunity for appointment against those vacancies. The new recruitment drive is expected to fill the remaining vacant posts and stabilise the staffing situation in government schools.

Education department officials said detailed guidelines, including eligibility criteria, examination pattern and application schedule, will be released along with the official notification.

The involvement of Vyapam is expected to ensure a structured examination process. Vyapam conducts recruitment examinations for various government departments in Chhattisgarh and manages the application, examination and result process.

The teacher recruitment is part of the state government’s broader effort to strengthen public education and improve learning conditions. Adequate teacher availability remains an important factor in ensuring regular classes and academic continuity.

For many aspirants, the upcoming recruitment offers an opportunity to secure a government teaching position. Candidates are now waiting for the official notification, which will mark the start of the application process.

The recruitment is expected to see a large number of applicants from across the state.
