Adani Group plans to invest $100 billion by 2035 to build green-powered, AI-ready data centres, as billionaire Gautam Adani looks to capitalise on India’s growing role in artificial intelligence and cloud computing.
The initiative is designed to create India’s sovereign AI backbone and position the country as a global leader in what the company calls the fast-emerging Intelligence Revolution.
INVESTMENT TO SPUR $250 BILLION AI ECOSYSTEM
The $100 billion direct investment is expected to catalyse an additional $150 billion across related sectors over the next decade. These include server manufacturing, advanced electrical infrastructure, sovereign cloud platforms, and semiconductor and compute ecosystems.
Together, the investments could help build a $250 billion AI infrastructure ecosystem in India over the coming decade.
According to a filing by flagship Adani Enterprises Ltd., the announcement pushed the company’s shares up by as much as 2.4% on Tuesday.
Gautam Adani said that the world is entering an Intelligence Revolution more profound than any previous Industrial Revolution, and countries that align energy and compute will define the future, with India well-placed to lead. He said the group is broadening its data centre and green energy base into a five-layer AI stack centred on sovereignty.
EXPANSION OF NATIONAL DATA CENTRE CAPACITY
This roadmap builds on AdaniConnex’s existing 2 GW national data centre network and targets an expansion to 5 GW, aiming to position India at the centre of the global AI economy.
The plan includes partnerships with Google to develop a gigawatt-scale AI data centre campus in Visakhapatnam, and with Microsoft across campuses in Noida, Hyderabad, and Pune.
