Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro series later this year. The more expensive iPhone models will feature notable upgrades, including better cameras, larger batteries, and other improvements. According to leaked specifications, the iPhone 18 Pro series models are expected to feature a smaller Dynamic Island, a main camera with variable aperture support, an A20 Pro chip, and a larger 5200 mAh battery. The upgrades are likely to appeal to Apple users who skipped the iPhone 17 Pro, which was launched in September 2025, as the iPhone 18 Pro series will reportedly offer users a more refined experience.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are said to remain unchanged, priced at $1,099 and $1,199, respectively.
The iPhone 18 Pro may arrive alongside what is shaping up to be a varied iPhone lineup this year, with the rumoured iPhone Fold drawing considerable attention.
Apple iPhone 18 Pro leaked specs: What to expect
One advantage of moving from aluminium to titanium, which Apple has already adopted for the iPhone 17 Pro series, is the greater flexibility it provides in colour options. Apple explored this with Cosmic Orange last year, and the company may expand further.
A Weibo leaker claims Apple is considering three additional colour options for the iPhone 18 Pro: brown, Purple, and burgundy.
The same leaker notes that there will still be no black colour option on the iPhone 18 Pro, despite many users requesting it.
Since its introduction in 2022, Dynamic Island on the iPhone has remained the same size, even as bezels have grown slimmer. That may change this year, with Dynamic Island becoming slightly smaller, largely due to Face ID components moving beneath the display. Earlier rumours suggested a hole-punch cutout, but that now appears unlikely.
There are two key camera rumours for iPhone 18 Pro. Both models could gain an improved telephoto lens. The iPhone 17 Pro currently offers an f/2.8 telephoto lens, and the iPhone 18 Pro is said to bring a wider aperture, though specifics are not yet available.
Additionally, Apple is considering a variable aperture for the main sensor on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, giving users more depth control and flexibility during daytime shooting.
Apple introduced its in-house modems last year with the iPhone 16e and iPhone Air, but other iPhone models have yet to follow, primarily because Apple’s first-generation modems did not support mmWave 5G.
That may change with iPhone 18, with all models expected to use the C2 chip. Apple’s modems are more power-efficient, which should translate into longer battery life without requiring significantly larger batteries.
Some leaks also suggest Apple’s C2 modem could support 5G connectivity via satellite, enabling data access away from a cellular network. Currently, satellite connectivity is mainly used to send text messages.
Apple is rumoured to introduce the A20 Pro chip, which will use the 2nm process for the first time, bringing performance and efficiency improvements. Apple may also introduce an improved networking chip with N2, following the N1 debut in the iPhone 17 lineup, though further details are not yet available.
iPhone 18 Pro is also expected to include a larger battery than iPhone 17 Pro. Early leaks indicate the iPhone 18 Pro Max will come with a battery capacity of around 5,200mAh, compared to 5,088mAh on the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Combined with efficiency gains from Apple’s modems and the latest Apple Silicon, the real-world battery improvements could feel more pronounced than the numbers suggest.
