BMW X3 30 vs Mercedes-Benz GLC 300: Price, engine, features & more

BMW India recently launched the new BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro SUV in the Indian market. The new X3 30 is the most powerful in its lineup and rivals the Mercedes-Benz GLC, Audi Q5 and Volvo XC 60. Pre-bookings for the SUV have begun, with customers able to place orders online or at authorised BMW dealerships. Deliveries are expected to begin soon. In this article, let’s compare the new BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro with the Mercedes-Benz GLC 4-Matic.

The new BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro is priced at Rs 74.5 lakh (ex-showroom). The X3 30 xDrive is the new top-of-the-line trim; it’s also offered with xDrive 20 petrol and the xDrive 20d diesel.

Both variants are sold with the M Sport package. The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4Matic is priced at Rs 73. 97 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s also offered with 220d 4Matic, which is also priced at Rs 73. 97 lakh (ex-showroom).

Comparing the dimensions next, the BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro measures 4,755 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, and has a 2,865 mm wheelbase.

It gets 20-inch M alloy wheels. The Mercedes-Benz GLC measures 4,716 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,640 mm in height, with a 2,580 mm wheelbase. It gets 19-inch alloy wheels.

The BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro features a 12.3-inch digital instrument display, a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, a 15-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, four-zone climate control, wireless phone charging, a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, powered and ventilated front seats with memory function and more.

On the safety front, the X3 is equipped with eight airbags, Attentiveness Assistance and Dynamic Stability Control, which incorporates Cornering Brake Control. Additional safety features include an electronic parking brake with auto hold, side-impact protection, an electronic immobiliser with crash sensor and child seat mounting provisions.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC features an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, connected car tech, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated seats, a wireless charger, a massive panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, multi-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, voice recognition, a 15-speaker Burmester surround audio system, a 360-degree camera, an air purifier and more.

Safety features include seven airbags, electronic parking brake with auto hold and ADAS tech that includes blind spot assist, active lane keep assist, attention assist, active brake assist and active parking assist.

The BMW X3 30 xDrive M Sport Pro is powered by a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 258hp and 400Nm of torque. The engine comes paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to all four wheels.

The engine also gets a 48V mild hybrid assist and is capable of a 0-100kph sprint in 6. 3 seconds. It has a claimed fuel efficiency of 14. 61kpl.

The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 4 Matic is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that produces 258hp and 400Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 9-speed automatic gearbox with a 4Matic all-wheel-drive system. The engine also comes paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system and an integrated starter generator that produces an additional 23hp and 200Nm.
