Lane Kiffin to LSU: $100M Deal, Press Conference Monday

Lane Kiffin Set to Become LSU Head Coach in Major College Football Move

Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin is expected to be officially announced as LSU’s next head coach during a Monday press conference, according to multiple reports. The move comes after LSU reportedly offered Kiffin a massive seven-year contract worth approximately $100 million.

Key Developments

  • LSU has scheduled a formal press conference for Monday to introduce Kiffin
  • Kiffin’s team meeting was rescheduled from Sunday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. CT
  • The $100 million deal would make him one of college football’s highest-paid coaches
  • Kiffin will leave Ole Miss after six seasons with a 55-19 record

Contract Details and Sources

Veteran reporter Bruce Feldman revealed that LSU sources are “very confident” Kiffin will accept the position. “I talked to LSU sources this morning, and they are very confident that Lane Kiffin is going to come to Baton Rouge and accept this job,” Feldman stated. “Expect for him to announce a decision later today.”

Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger also confirmed Kiffin has clearly expressed his intention to become LSU’s next head coach.

Ole Miss Departure Implications

Kiffin’s departure from Ole Miss means he won’t coach the Rebels during their College Football Playoff run. Defensive coordinator Pete Golding is expected to be named interim head coach, according to CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz.

Kiffin currently earns a $9 million base salary at Ole Miss under a contract that runs through December 2030. The agreement includes potential bonuses up to $2.6 million for the 2025 season. If Kiffin leaves, he would owe Ole Miss a $4 million buyout if departing before season’s end, or $3 million if leaving afterward.
