Campbell Soup VP’s Leaked Audio Reveals Product, Customer Insults

Campbell Soup VP’s Leaked Audio Sparks Lawsuit and Investigation

Campbell Soup Company faces a major crisis after leaked audio allegedly captures a vice president making derogatory remarks about the company’s products and customers. The controversy has led to a lawsuit, internal investigation, and regulatory scrutiny.

Key Developments

  • Former employee Robert Garza filed lawsuit against Campbell’s
  • VP Martin Bally placed on temporary leave pending investigation
  • Florida Attorney General launches consumer protection probe
  • Allegations include racist remarks and product disparagement

The Damaging Recording

Robert Garza of Michigan released audio he claims features Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer Martin Bally making inflammatory statements. In the recording broadcast by Detroit’s Local 4 News, a speaker identified as Bally states: ‘We have s**t for f***king poor people. Who buys our s**t? I don’t buy Campbell’s products barely anymore. It’s not healthy now that I know what the f**’s in it.’

The speaker also referenced ‘bioengineered meat,’ saying, ‘I don’t wanna eat a piece of chicken that came from a 3D printer.’

Company Response

A Campbell Soup Company spokesperson told Daily Mail: ‘We are proud of the food we make, the people who make it and the high-quality ingredients we use. The comments on the recording are not only inaccurate – they are patently absurd.’

The spokesperson emphasized that Bally works in IT and ‘has nothing to do with how we make our food.’ The company confirmed Bally is ‘temporarily on leave while we conduct an investigation.’

Bioengineered Meat Clarification

While the recording alleges Bally claimed Campbell’s uses bioengineered meat, the company strongly denied this. A spokesperson stated: ‘The chicken meat used in our soups comes from long-trusted, USDA-approved US suppliers and meets our high quality standards. All of our soups are made with No Antibiotics Ever chicken meat.’

Legal and Regulatory Fallout

The controversy has attracted government attention, with Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier posting on X: ‘Florida law bans lab-grown meat. Our Consumer Protection division is launching an investigation and will demand answers from Campbell’s.’

Racist Remarks Alleged

According to the lawsuit, Garza claimed Bally made racist comments about Campbell’s Indian staff members during an hour-long rant. The recording reportedly includes statements like: ‘F***ing Indians don’t know a f***ing thing. Like they couldn’t think for their f***ing selves.’

Retaliation Claims

Garza alleges he was terminated on January 30, 2025, shortly after reporting Bally’s conduct to his supervisor. His attorney, Runyan, told Local News 4: ‘He was really sticking up for other people… And the response to Robert sticking up for other people is that he gets fired, which is ridiculous.’

The lawsuit claims Garza had never faced disciplinary action and was terminated in retaliation for speaking out about Bally’s conduct, accusing Campbell’s of fostering a racially toxic workplace.
